Simple Spotless Skin Vs Garnier Skin Active: Facial Wash

IMG_2276

*I would like to stress that I am not being paid to write about these products, I was not given the products for free, nor is this a sponsored post. I feel like in the current climate of misleading information online, it is important to address but I am just a little blogger doing her own thing.*

As someone who has tried and tested many facial washes to achieve clear skin over my teens and now early twenties, I think it’s time I should write about the facial washes I have been using consistently for the past few years.

When it comes to spots I have been fairly lucky, I would get the odd breakout especially in my teens with a few problematic/sore blemishes here and there. Later on, when my thyroid started to kick up and leave me in low health, my skin would become seriously dry and again, some breakouts occurred. I still get the odd blemish but it’s mostly hormonal or stress related like it is for us all!

Eventually it would be Simple and more recently Garnier I found to be helpful, and now I have decided to put the two facial washes to the test.

Simple Spotless Skin Triple Action Face Wash

simplefacialwash

Simple claims: With results from day 1, this essential face wash helps to deeply cleanse, purify and tone your skin by removing hidden dirt, which helps to unclog your pores.

With our special blend of Simple antibacterial and cleansing goodness, featuring ingredients like Zinc and Chamomile. The triple action face wash helps to absorb excess oil and fight spots and blemishes.

This facial wash was the first I ever saw positive results with, Simple are known for their care of sensitive skin so I thought it was worth a try. I started using it in my teens and continued for many years. I would use it every morning and it instantly made my skin feel great, it kept blemishes at bay and if any spot did arise due to health, I would continue on and found spots reduced in size and redness.

I was pretty happy the results until my skin dried out further from my thyroid issues, which led to my skin drying out even more by using the facial wash, no matter what amount of moisturiser I was using! Like I said, I love it in the beginning but I guess all of our skin changes at different stages. I think it’s best suited to teenage skin to keep blemishes at bay or if you just have oily to combination skin. I wouldn’t particularly recommend it for dry skin, but that’s just my personal opinion, what works for one person doesn’t for the other!

My Rating: 3/5

Garnier Pure Active Sensitive: Anti-Blemish Soap Free Face Wash

garnierfacialwash

Garnier claims: A new generation of gel wash, with Zinc and Witch Hazel extract, formulated for sensitive skin with imperfections that combines effectiveness against blemishes with a gentle formula:

  • Helps eliminate the appearance of spots without drying out skin

  • Soothes and refreshes sensitive skin

  • Hypoallergenic and ph neutral formula for optimal tolerance

It’s only in the past year that I have starting using this facial wash in my skin care routine, originally trying it out to see how it would suit my skin and then switching completely from Simple’s wash adding it to my daily routine.

It’s a soothing gel that turns to a foam wash once you lather it up. My skin felt incredibly refreshed from the first use, it looked healthier, it didn’t irritate, and put moisture back into my skin rather than drying it out. As for blemishes, it certainly keeps them at bay as as I find spots don’t even last days after surfacing!

After weeks, even months of using it I am so impressed and would recommend to anyone with dry or oily/combination skin!

My Rating: 5/5

It’s worth noting that both these cleansers will bring out some blemishes when first used as they both unclog the pores and draw out any unwanted dirt from beneath the skin but overall my current favourite of the two is Garnier’s Pure Active, my skin has never been clearer and I will definitely be checking out more of the range.

  1. I love seeing what other people are using, and it’s probably because I’m a little nosy haha. But I’ve used Simple products for awhile in high school and I only recently started using it again, but I’m definitely going to have to give the Garnier one a go! Great post!

It’s okay, I’m also that nosy! Haha They are definitely the best two brands for sensitive skin, but I can’t praise the Garnier wash enough!
