I was excited recently to see that Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez had officially reached the Irish and UK shores. It’s a beauty line that I have anticipated the most, and I was always so envious to see the lovely content creators overseas trying it out for themselves.
Now that I get the chance, I thought it was only appropriate to share my excitement with a good ol’ beauty haul/mini review – something I have not posted in so long!
So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get into it…
Lip Soufflé Creme
I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for a lip product and I was pretty hyped to see the products Rare Beauty had to offer.
I was really torn between picking one of the lipglosses or lipsticks so in the end I went for a Lip Soufflé Creme, which is basically a liquid lipstick that dries matte. When I saw the shade ‘Motivate’, I knew had to be mine.
My lips were little a dry upon application (*thanks* cold Irish winter) so I was already skeptical as to whether it would apply properly. Me, being me, I put it on without any prep – not even a lip scrub – and I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed to dry pretty quickly, but you still had enough time to work with it before it completely dried. It didn’t cling onto the dry patches on my lips in the way I thought it might, it also feels pretty lightweight.
Overall, I really like the lip soufflé. The pink colour is just gorgeous – not overbearing at all – and it’s staying power is incredible. I had it on for hours, ate dinner and by the end of the day, I still had to cleanse properly to remove it all.
It’s a product I would definitely repurchase, and probably in other shades too.

Perfect Strokes Volumizing Mascara
I find it hard to switch out my mascaras. Once I have my old favourites, I tend to stick to them and that’s why I opted for the smaller/8.0ml version of the Perfect Strokes Volumizing Mascara.
Now because this is a beauty range I was excited for, I really wanted to like this mascara more than I did. I usually go for a false lash effect mascara so maybe it’s unfair to compare this one to that, but I’m not really sure about it. I do think it makes the lashes appear longer but I don’t know about volume.
I guess the good news is, that I didn’t hate it, and I only wore it once so far, so I may need to give it another chance. I will definitely starting using it as a daily mascara to see, I would have to before considering buying the bigger version.

Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush
I think the Stay Vulnerable collection within this range is absolutely gorgeous. It’s about more natural looking shades and embracing our vulnerable selves which I can totally get behind.
Looking through the collection, the melting blush was the product that really caught my attention. I was interested to know how the formula would work and I’ll be honest, I thought the packaging was super cute (retro Polly Pocket vibes anyone?)
I picked up the shade ‘Nearly Apricot’ because I know peachy tone blushes suit me best. I thought it would be a little sheer at first, but I was so wrong. While natural tones may be the underlying theme for this collection, the blush is actually quite pigmented and extremely buildable. It’s cream/melting blush formula works like a dream with any appropriate face brush. I had it on my face for hours too, and it didn’t seem to budge, I am so impressed. I may even have found my newest favourite blush !

Liquid Touch Weightless Touch Foundation and Always An Optimist Primer (Samples)
I was delighted to also receive a sample of the foundation and primer. I was tempted to buy it but I wasn’t really sure I wanted to pay full price just to give it a go. Luckily for me I didn’t have to, but I was surprised with just how much I loved both products, and the foundation in particular.
Looking at the samples, I didn’t think the amount of product would go very far, but I was wrong! A little goes a long way with both. Firstly the primer went on like a dream, it has a really smooth consistency that dries pretty quickly into the skin (it did for me anyway) and created a lovely base – it also smelled amazing.
The foundation… well, this foundation made a big impression on me. While staying true to it’s medium, yet buildable coverage, it doesn’t feel heavy or like it’s caked into the skin, at all.
It just so happened that I had a few ‘blemishes’ on my face the week I tried the foundation out, but it really disguised them and made my skin appear super smooth. Honestly, on a week where I could have felt pretty shit about my skin, I was actually loving how it looked. I went for shade ‘160 C’ and I think it matched my complexion perfectly. As an Irish gal in the middle of Winter, I am pretty pale at the moment, and a lot of foundations are either too dark or so white they make me look sick, but not the Liquid Touch Weightless Touch Foundation, and with 48 shades already in the range, I am sure there is one for everyone. I had it on for over 5+ hours and it really held up. I have never received a makeup sample that I got so much out of, and because of this I went an ordered a full bottle.
Apparently the Rare Beauty aim is to provide makeup you can feel good in, and if that is the case, both Selena and the team at Rare Beauty have achieved just that. I am in awe.
